Career Day At Young Audiences!
I absolutely love visiting schools to pour into young vibrant minds! Young Audiences Charter School invited me back to visit but this time we weren’t creating holiday snacks, it was Career Day. YAC is a charter school that supports heavy integration of fine arts into their studies, so Career Day had a wide variety of professions. Police officers, firemen, doctors, actresses, football players, EMT’s, musicians, veterinarians and chefs. We were able to talk to each grade level, giving a peak into the life in that profession. Those children were so full of life and zeal! We know that the life that they witness isn’t sugar coated and they decide earlier in life what path they want but these kids have promising futures merely because they’re flooded with the power of choice and are nudged towards natural gifts. As a parent I firmly agree with allowing children to discover their natural gifts and talents because I believe that those gifts and talents are the tools needed to complete and live out their purpose in life. One kid asked me
“What’s your catch phrase?” and my response was “If it’s not burned, name it something else”
I loved the diversity, freedom, and opinions that were in the classrooms. It was a delight and I always try to find time to give time to anyone who can use a positive influence. I know as parents and professionals we have busy days, but try to make time to jump into moments like this, it means so much to them. Those children felt noticed and loved, that’s priceless.
